Daily Cal writing

During the summers of 2022 and 2023 I had an internship with the Daily Californian, UC Berkeley's newspaper. I had a lot of fun reporting on events and working with college students. The Daily Cal greatly advanced my journalistic abilities with both writing and the research and interview process. 

"'We want to lead a conversation': Berkeley School of Journalism implements new whistleblower program"

Following the recent death of esteemed whistleblower for the Pentagon Papers and advisory board member Daniel Ellsberg, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism is creating a whistleblower program, with the intention of leading a conversation to improve interactions between journalists and whistleblowers.

"'It's love here': Campus alumni, community march in SF Pride"

The San Francisco Pride Parade returned Sunday after two years of pandemic cancellations and community members representing UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, or Berkeley Lab, joined the march down Market Street.

"Incoming freshman navigate course enrollment"

As another school year approaches, incoming freshmen will soon choose their classes for next year. Students have many tools available to them, from online platforms such as Berkeleytime and RateMyProfessor to Golden Bear Advising, or GBA. Still, the enrollment process can create stress and confusion for incoming students who aren’t familiar with UC Berkeley.

As a mother and Portland, Oregon resident, attending an in-person master’s program was a difficult feat for Sophie Christian. So, when she heard about UC Berkeley Haas School of Business’ flex Master of Business Administration, or MBA, program, she jumped on the opportunity to participate in a program that would allow her to obtain an MBA from the comfort of her own home.

UC Berkeley’s Rausser College of Natural Resources recently launched a Master of Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics program in the department of nutritional sciences and toxicology.

"Gov. Newson signs gun legislation, models Texas abortion resitrictions"

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB 1327 on Friday, allowing Californians to sue entities responsible for the development or distribution of illegal assault weapons and homemade guns without serial numbers, or “ghost guns.”

"Researchers use CRISPR technology to perform 'community editing'"

A team of researchers at the Innovative Genomics Institute, or IGI, have found a way to use CRISPR technology to edit genes within a community, spearheading huge advancements in the medical industry.

For years, scientists have worked to create an energy-dense and eco-friendly fuel, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, or Berkeley Lab, researchers have finally created one — biofuel derived from bacteria.

Berkeley REI employees have begun to seek union representation, hopeful that their efforts will spark what they believe to be necessary changes in their workplace.

"'We cannot look away': Newsom approves millions to combat gun violence"

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday a record $156 million in grants as part of the California Violence Intervention and Prevention Grant Program, or CalVIP, to fund programs that combat gun violence.
